Food Technology Expo
BELOIT -- As part of an ongoing commitment to the regional Food Technology Cluster, the Greater Beloit Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the date of the third annual Food Technology Conference & Expo.

It will be held May 7-8, 2008. The Evening Social will be held Wednesday, May 7 at Vision Beloit. The conference & expo will be held Thursday, May 8 at the Eclipse Center.

Mercy wins award
JANESVILLE -- Mercy Home Health, a service of Mercy Health System, headquartered in Janesville, Wisconsin, today announced that it has been named to the 2007 HomeCare Elite, a compilation of the most successful Medicare-certified home health care providers in the United States. Entrepreneurship grants
ROCKFORD -- The Rock River Valley Entrepreneurship Center (RRVEC), with financial support from the Illinois Department of Economic Opportunity (DCEO), administers a matching challenge grant program targeted at high-growth companies in the Northern Illinois area. The purpose of the program is to assist those businesses with the potential for rapid, sustainable growth in obtaining professional services that will assist in the acquisition of capital, increase in revenue or other operational issues.

A minimum of 10 percent projected growth in jobs and revenues annually over a three-year time frame are required.

RFD servicing Myrtle Beach
ROCKFORD -- The Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) announced a new non-stop jet service to Myrtle Beach, SC. Southern Skyways, a scheduled public charter operated by Primaris Airlines and based out of ATlanta will begin twice-weekly flights from RFD on May 23. The seasonal service will continue though Sept. 1.

CWT under new management

Stride for Health Program announces speakers
JANESVILLE -- The Stride for Health Mall Walking Program is sponsored by Mercy Health System and the Janesville Mall. The program, which is free and open to the public, is held the second Tuesday of each month, 8:15-9:30 am, at the Janesville Mall Food Court, 2500 Milton Ave.

Monthly meetings include a heart-healthy breakfast, health screenings, door prize drawings, and a presentation by a Mercy health care professional.

Participants receive a free t-shirt when they sign up for membership.

On Tuesday, February 12, Gene Gulliver, MD, cardiologist and board certified internal medicine physician at the Mercy Regional Heart and Vascular Center in Janesville, will discuss chest pain from a cardiologist's perspective.

On Tuesday, March 11, Jan Ishmael, RN, of the Mercy Regional Dialysis Center, talks about risk factors--including family history--for chronic kidney disease, and the screenings available for this serious, but often-undiagnosed problem.
