Mall announces new stores
ROCKFORD -- Body Central and Tradehome Shoes will be opening their first Rock River Valley stores at CherryVale Mall by late spring.

In addition, Asha SalonSpa, an Aveda Lifestyle SalonSpa, will open around the same time at The District At CherryVale, the new lifestyle component adjacent to the mall.

Officials from CBL & Associates Properties said the new businesses are hoped to bring fresh retail concepts to the center to complement CherryVale Malls' mix of national, regional and locally-owned stores.

Building System wins award
JANESVILLE -- Quality Building Systems in Janesville was presented with Star's distinguished Outstanding Builder Award.

This award recognizes builders for market share and sales volume achievements during the year. Quality Building Systems has been an authorized building for Star Building Systems since 1987.

Star is a leading manufacturer of custom metal buildings with headquarters in Oklahoma City and plants in Lockeford, Calif., Monticello, Iowa, and Elizabethton, Tenn.

Local contractor honored
LOVES PARK -- Building Systems, Inc., a general contracting company located at 5183 Harlem Road, in Loves Park, has been named High Performance Builder by the Buildings Division of Butler Manufacturing Company, the world leader in the development and manufacture of metal building systems.

Terry Blank, Midwest Regional General Manager and Dennis Hainly, Midwest Regional Sales Manager presented the award at Butler's 2008 national sales meeting.

The designation is awarded to Butler Builders that meet or exceed annual trade goals as well as demonstrate superior marketing skills in the sale of Butler building and roof systems.

Only 215 of these awards were presented nationally from a network of more than 1,400 Butler Builders worldwide.

Allegiant Air buys new aircraft
ROCKFORD -- Allegiant Tavel Company recently announced its wholly owned subsidiary, Allegiant Air, LLC, has agreed to purchase six MD-80 aircraft and three spare engines currently on lease to FlyNordic, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Norweigan Air Shuttle. the seller is a subsidiary of Finnair, the original operator of the aircraft.

McGuire Mears earns awards
JANESVILLE -- Coldwell Banker Commercial McGuire Mears & Assoc. received recognition in four categories at this year's Coldwell Banker Commercial Global Award and Recognition Program.

The program honors peak performers who lead the national organization in unparalleled levels of service. The Janesville office received the Number One Office by State award for the highest adjusted closed gross commission income from franchisable commercial services for the calendar year 2007. Brokers Joel Patch, William Mears and Mike Venable also received individual honors at this year's Global Commercial Conference.

Joel Patch received both the Number One Sales Associate by State award and the Circle of Distinction Silver Level award. Mike Venable also took home the Circle of Distinction Silver Level award and William Mears was honored with the Circle of Distinction Bronze Level award. All awards were given for closed adjusted gross commission income from franchisable commercial services for 2007.

Gun Club restaurant honored
BELOIT -- The Gun Club Restaurant, 1122 E. Colley Road, Beloit, recently received the 2008 Best Fine Dining Platinum Plate Award from the Best Independent Restaurants Association.

Gun Club owner Frank Dajka, chef David Adjey and Cynthia Dajka were presented with the award. A "mystery" customer stopped at the Gun Club and used national guidelines and standards to judge the restaurant. The Gun Club met the rigorous standards needed to be awarded the Platinum Plate Award. .

Employment Expo scheduled
BELOIT -- Employment Expo 2008, featuring employers from southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois will be held 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. May 6 at the Eclipse Center in Beloit.

Employment Expo 2008 is a partnership between the Beloit Daily News, Blackhawk Human Resource Association, Blackhawk Technical College,. Forward Janesville, the Greater Beloit Chamber of Commerce, the Janesville Gazette, Rock County Job Center and the University of Wisconsin - Rock County.

Last year, 61 employers had exhibits at the expo and more than 2,500 job seekers attended the event.

Church gets online identity
ROCKFORD -- Ignition Studio completes new online identity for Broadway Covenant Church. The completed website at www.broadwaycovenant.com launched last month and is now fulfilling the needs of both the church and its community.

The website offers RSS-enabled news, a newer type of online technology, where members of the church can remain up to date on church events at the website or by subscribing to the news feed and receiving updates through Microsoft Outlook (or iCal for Macs) or other online RSS readers. In addition to news, Broadway has the ability to PodCast weekly sermons via a custom-built audio management feature.
